About Us
The Thomas Family purchased Ffynnonmeredydd Farmhouse and Outbuildings just over four years ago and have patiently and lovingly restored both The Farmhouse and three cottages.
You will find pictures in the rear porch of the Farmhouse which give some indication of the extent of the rebuilding work carried out over this period. Where possible they have reused the timbers and all the stone work has been removed and painstakingly rebuilt.
The timber in the front lounge of the Farmhouse is the original which stood over the fireplace when it was built in around 1870. The original oven, now sited in the wall in the kitchen, was significantly bigger and doubled up as a bread oven however some of it was destroyed unfortunately when removed from the wall.
As a further point of interest the oven was originally made by the Jones Bros, in Aberaeron approx 5 miles away . There are very few remaining of its kind in the area.
The stone pillar also in the kitchen was taken from the Quarry which is on Ffynonmereddydd land. The original stone, used to build the house was also taken from there.
The Lakes which you see in the field were man made two years ago with fresh flowing water from the stream and land drainage water. In the four seasons you can see different wild life surrounding the Lakes from Canadian Geese, Ducks and their young ( to date 14 goslings and an abundance of baby ducks have hatched on the island in the centre of the Lakes.
This year alone there have been many grey squirrels, rabbits, foxes, badgers, hedgehogs, polecats and water voles visiting with their young.
